Angel Charity
Vets2Home supports, donates to and helps elderly cats find new short-term, long-term or permanent foster homes for those older cats that come to us for euthanasia, but are too lively and healthy and not yet ready for euthanasia.
These cats come from often very upset and desperate owners, who call us as a last resort in a horrible, often very sad situation where they for various reasons cannot continue to care for their elderly cat or cats and can’t see any other way out than to put them to sleep.
As vets, we too often have been called out for this, only to find when we arrive that the cats are not unwell, not sick and not at all ready to leave this world.
As animal loving humans (and vets) we simply cannot put an animal to sleep who isnt at all ready for a loving gift of goodbye. The Angel Fund is to help these cats find new retirement homes, where TLC is all that’s required. We don’t have all the requirements that most other mainstream charities operate under. We are family run, which means we run and operate from love alone.
So after decades of encountering many such unfortunate situation, we now have an ‘ANGEL FUND’ which will lovingly help these cats and families/owners who find themselves in such a sad situation.

The ethos of the Angel Fund
We want to have only successful ‘recycling’ of these beautiful older kitties, either short or long term, and will only rehome cats after we’ve carried out a gentle blood screening and vet check, so we know a bit more about those cats that come to us for euthanasia before ‘their time’ and before promising them a new suitable home.
We operate a small, personal register without many of the usual limiting ‘hoops’ for every potential cat lover who signs up with us, who just need to have enough ‘room in their heart and home’ to give an unwanted or relinquished cat a new forever or retirement home, until they are finally ready to leave this world.
Vets2Home will then offer a gentle goodbye, peacefully taken care of in their own (new retirement) home when they are ready free of charge. Not before. Not too soon. And only after a period of lots of TLC and extra attention, which they were not able to have in their previous sad circumstances.
Please help our work to help these lovely oldies.
To help this ‘circle of life’ be complete with finding the last forever or foster home for these cats, Vets2Home also donate £5 on behalf of every (ready) animal that we send over the rainbow in our daily work.
We hope you too will support this ‘recycling kitty love’ work by registering with us as a foster or forever home (please email wecare@vets2home) – or help with a small donation.
You can help us in this work by either
- Registering your contact details with us for fostering (urgent, short or long term or permanent/forever) a lovely senior cat or cats that has been saved from euthanasia (email: wecare@vets2home.co.uk).
- If you cannot offer a home, any amount of donation you can spare to help us with this ‘heart recycling’, is welcomed.
Our Facebook page will also be updated (Angel Fund) with the cats that come to us under these circumstances and need an urgent home.
Sadly older, senior cats are either refused or living out their sad lives in the big mainstream rescue centres, or worse, put to sleep due to merely their age, due to being unwanted. It’s heart breaking.
Vets2Home will never put any animal to sleep that isn’t ready for this.
Our work with rehoming relinquished senior cats (12+) that otherwise would be put to sleep, is currently only offered in/near Sussex where we offer our home vet end-of-life services.

We also support similar charity work in Portugal...
Oasis are a small sanctuary (just under 6 acres) at the foothills of the Gardunha mountain range in central Portugal.
We welcome any animal in need; providing care, love and high quality veterinary treatment to enable abandoned and abused animals to heal both physically and emotionally.
When possible, and in the animal’s best interest, we find loving ‘forever’ homes once the healing process is complete.
For the very elderly, those with complex medical needs or behavioural issues finding a suitable home is difficult so for these we become their ‘forever’ home.
For those with terminal illnesses we provide high quality hospice care in a safe and secure environment with love and compassion for however long they have left.
