Vets2Home - More of your memories

This page continues the memories to honour and celebrate the life and the memory of all the beautiful animals who shared our worldly journey for a short time, adding lots of love, joy and light.

“If it should be that I grow frail and weak, And pain should keep me from my sleep;
then you must do what must be done, For this last battle can’t be won.
You will be sad – I understand, don’t let your grief then stay your hand;
For this day more than the rest, your love and friendship stand the test.
We’ve had so many happy years, What is to come can hold no fears;
You’d not want me to suffer so, when the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they’ll tend, only, stay with me to the end;
And hold me firm and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see It is kindness you do to me;
Although my tail its last has waved, from pain and suffering I’ve been saved.
Don’t grieve that it should be you, who has to decide this thing to do;
We’ve been so close- we two these years, Don’t let your heart hold any tears.”

GEORGE

"My George, the most handsome cat anyone had ever seen. How can it be that such a bright light just suddenly burns out? I wish I had been there to say goodbye to you, or even known that the last time would be the last time. Unfortunately, your time on this earth was much too short but I know that in my heart I am grateful to have loved you for your version of forever. Me and Leo are going to miss you so much, my precious boy. I'm so sorry, I love you more than I knew it was possible to love a cat. Until we meet again. 06.05.18-09.05.24"

LU-LU

"Its the saddest moment for me to write this.. our lulu passed away very peacefully on Monday 12th December 2022. She had nearly 18 incredible years with us. She was one in a million. She entered my life when I was 13 years old, now I'm in my 30's, she has been there through everything and always been such a help to me, and no matter what's gone on in life, lu would always been there with her paw on my shoulder and comfort me. always unconditional love. She is now with her brother reggie. I wouldn't of had anyone else other than Jo come and support lu with her final moments with us, he was so kind to lu's brother reggie, we knew when the time approached Jo was the person to come round and support lu-lu, he is beyond caring and compassionate to the whole family. Thankyou Jo. And Sleep tight my little lu and I mean this thank you for being my best friend. Now go and give dad a big hug, your brother reggie a hug, jeep, bronte, Annie, Billy, bosie, flash, lottie.. have a Christmas party with them. Lots of love forever and always- Meg, Sara,Charlie, fleur, Ruby and your partner in crime arnie xxxxxxxxxx."

MURPHY

"Thank you Dr Suzen for the care and compassion you showed to Murphy (and us as a family) on Tuesday when you came to help Murphy on his way to Rainbow Bridge. Murphy was 12 years old and his back end was failing - it was a heartbreaking decision but I had to be unselfish and just think of him. I wanted him to have the dignity that he deserved, right to the end. His passing was beautiful - a memory for us all which isn't a horrible one. There was no struggle, he did not know anything about it. Covered in kisses and cuddles right to the end, all he knew was our voices telling him how much we loved him. We have used Vets2Home several times, but our previous dog had to be PTS at a specialist vets and my Daughter could not be there as she was travelling. Although we told her that he went peacefully, I think there was always that doubt for her. This time, she was laying with Murphy the entire time and I know that this has helped her to cope with her loss greatly. Of course you pay more for this at home service, but there was no stress (for us included), no time limits - we weren't rushed at all and more importantly Murphy was in his safe / secure surroundings, calm and happy til the end. The other added benefit is that Macey our other dog, could come and see and sniff Murphy after Dr Suzen had placed him in a bed and covered him a blanket. This will help with Macey's grieving process too. To me, this service provided is priceless - what better way to say thank you to Murphy for the past 12 years for all that he has given us. Thank you so much from us all - you made the most difficult of times a little bit easier."

TINKERBELLE

"Thursday was a day that we had been dreading for some time, our little dog Tinkerbelle was very unwell and we knew it was time to let her go. She hated the vets and and I could not bear for it to happen there with all the people and noise around us. So I contacted Dr Suzan, it was the best thing I could have done, the whole process was done slowly, quietly and very gently, for Tink as well as us, Tink passed away so peacefully and gently in her own home with me holding her in my arms, a distressing event was made so much easier, and for that we cannot thank Dr Suzan enough, Tinkerbelle had given us 15 years of love and Dr Suzan helped us repay that love back. The house is very quiet without our little angel but I feel her presence and love"

My family and I would like to say a very big thank you to Dr Suzen for all her kindness and support over a very difficult time. Dr Suzen gave us lots of time during the process and she was quiet one and respectful, I would recommend her to all my let loving friends and family. My thanks April

An image showing Crista, a cat peacefully euthanised by vets at home

CRISTA

My beautiful, crazy cat Crista. She didn’t have a good start in life, found as a pregnant stray. with cat flu, on the streets of Brighton. She then developed cancer 6 years ago, and had to have one of her front legs amputated, but even after this, she never lost her spark. I miss her so much, the flat is very quiet without her, from the ping pong balls flying up the hall at 3am, to my 6am wake up call for breakfast, and her general chatting throughout the day. She was such a gentle cat, so full of character, and it was a privilege to have her in my life for 13 years 💕

TINK

Our darling Tink, who shared our lives and was part of our family for over 17 years. We got her when she could fit in to the palm of our hands. Now we say Thank You and Goodbye to Tink, who gave us so much love, joy, laughter, and great company. Thank you for spending your life with us and providing so many happy memories, for sharing our camping holidays, our picnics, our swims, our walks. Sadly, after 17 years, we will no longer have to repair the lawn. We will miss that too! There'll never be another dog like you, Tink. Tink won the hearts of everyone who met her. Dr Joaquin was a great comfort and help during Tink's last moments with us. Thank you for being so respectful, kind and professional. You kept us informed at each stage and even took the time to let us know that Bella could come and sniff to say goodbye. Tink, you were jealous of Bella when she first arrived (remember you trying to fit in to her tiny puppy bed?) but you eventually accepted her into the family, too. She misses you too and was with you at the end. Sleep peacefully now, dear Tink, in our garden, next to the pond where you liked to go for a drink. We will always miss you and will always love you.

My darling Daisy
Happy paws
Laughing face
Clicky claws
Loved you dearly
You loved back
Mourn you deeply
Want you back
But you have gone now
My heard cries out
Your paw prints light now
Not in place
But you have gone now
And I'm alone
Your tiny paw prints
Will guide me home.

We were so very grateful for Suzen's visit during our beloved dog Gretl's last few hours. She passed over peacefully at home in our arms knowing she was forever loved by us! To help us in our grief we were advised to write her a letter about our lives together which we did. It is now in pride of place in our Rabbit ceramic jar here in our large kitchen where we all sat together! Bless You and thank you.

SPEAR

Spear "I would like to share my own very special happy memories..... of Spear, my rescued and very handsome (always in his black and white "tuxedo") big boy from Norfolk who was a really big - in every way - character. He was a real one-person cat who loved and adored his mum dearly (me) and shared my pillow every night - but everyone else were just "below him" and would get a swipe with his tiger paws if they dared to pass by too closely! He will always be a special favourite and his memory lives on - as I miss him every single day - especially having my pillow to myself now!! I so wish I didn't though...."

BARNEY

My beautiful springer spaniel Barney was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour in April this year and was very sadly laid to rest on Tue. 11th of August 2015. I cannot praise Suzen enough for the time and great care she gave to Barney and us. She gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes and he went to sleep at home, in his bed surrounded by his family. We miss our boy so very, very much but thanks to Suzen he went peacefully. A heart felt thank you Suzen.

SPARKY

Our beautiful boy, Sparky. 12 wonderful years gone in the blink of an eye, you've left us all too soon trusted canine friend, a loyal companion devoted to the very end. Who could forget the staggeringly happy memories you've provided, all those days at the pub where you sneakily managed to get your tongue into somebody's pint when they weren't looking... cunningly removing food from people's plates when they were distracted...scaring the living hell out of the postman as your face bounded up to the letterbox. Though your bark was far worse than your bite, for you were a true softy, convinced you were in fact a human, never happier than when in our company. You loved a drive, we lost count of the many times you managed to sneak into the driver's seat before us, your cheeky face grinning with mischief. First sight of a cat, squirrel or fox and you were off like a rocket, a blur of white fur, though had you kept quieter you may have got closer! You claimed a sofa as your own, many people forced off by your fat bum! When left alone you clearly displayed your displeasure by tossing every cushion off every sofa, leaving a well marked trail of your hair. We could write a book about your antics, but just know that you've left a gaping chasm and you'll be missed more than you can possibly know. You've brightened every single day and this well spoken phrase could never be more applicable, you truly were a man (& woman's) best friend. Love you always buddy, may you forever rest in peace xx

MIA

Hi Suzen, I just wanted to thank you so much for your kind compassion and letting Mia pass so peacefully and dignified on 27.2.2018. I am heartbroken but you helped me and my family tremendously. She went downhill rapidly and when she gave me 'that look' I knew it was time to let her go. I couldn't bear to take her to the vets surgery (something she was always terrified of) and when you came out to us she was in her own home with all her human & doggy family around her. She wasn't scared and she gently & peacefully left us. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Tania. x

RUBY

Our beautiful and very affectionate Siamese cat with a big personality, massive bright blue eyes and a purr you could hear across the room. She did not like closed doors and became very good at opening them which had its problems. This included getting into the cupboard the dried cat food was in (more than once) and opening a plastic container. Food all over the floor and sleeping off her very big meal when humans returned! One of her favourite occupations was getting on top of the washing when it was warm out of the tumble dryer. Anything warm, actually like stretching herself out in the sunshine and so much better when she was disturbed with words and a stroke. Thank you to Jo for making her passing so peaceful - Many Thanks.

ZIGLET

My dear 'little Ziglet' a sleek cross feral oriental tabby who could have purred for England She was a big part of my life for nearly 16 years , getting stuck up trees, climbing onto roofs and wailing all night , walking down the railway track as if she owned it hissing and spitting at the vets BUT,
I wouldn't t change a thing I loved you to bits and miss you loads. Until we meet
again my furry friend.
My thanks to Jo for making
such a difficult time bearable.

SYBIL

Thank you for coming quickly when Sybil went downhill very fast. Only 3 days from diagnosis to the end, it's all been a terrible shock. But Sybil was a wonderful, wilful, strong and proud girl. Such a big cat, all the neighbourhood cats were scared of her and even the foxes wouldn't get too close. She ruled us all. She leaves a huge hole in our lives, such a privilege to have her for those too short 11 years.

KERRY HOBBS

I just wanted to thank Dr Jo and the team for the beautiful card which arrived yesterday. We both feel so very cared for by you all. It was so thoughtful of Dr Suzen to bring Kerry home to us. I was dreading having to go back to the vet and stand outside that window yet again! I hope I can leave you all with this photo of Kerry last Thursday morning, such a painful but very beautiful day when she simply spent it in her happy place. I will always remember what you did for us. With best wishes

SALEM

Our beautiful boy was with us for 16 years, until organ failure put him in a downward spiral. Such a tough decision, to know when it is the right time, but it was very special to be able to let him slip away peacefully outside in the sunshine, with those who loved him, near him. We are so grateful to Suzen for her warmth and compassion and for making Salem's last day stress free and peaceful. Thank you so much

GABRIEL

Can't thank Dr Suzen enough for her help in letting my tiny little rabbit Gabriel pass away peacefully at home. He slipped off to sleep cradled in my lap in our garden age 10 years and 7 months. A rescue baby born differently from other rabbits with a compressed skull shape, we didn't know if he would make adulthood. He had surgery at 15 weeks old that enabled him to eat by himself and despite some snuffly issues from his squashed skull shape he lived life to the full. His rabbit partners Pandora, Neroli, Mimosa and Bethany all loved him to bits, as I did. Heartbroken to have lost my precious boy, but so glad I could give him the final gift of love. Never forgotten Gabriel xxx

NUTMEG

Beautiful Nutmeg's last Christmas. Her death on New Year's Day was made peaceful and the best it could have been with the help of Dr Jo who was kindness itself. Nutmeg was brave and beautiful but hated being away from us, so going to the vet for a final visit during covid would have been a nightmare for all. Instead she died at home in our arms. Can't recommend this veterinary practice highly enough. Thank you for making her last moments so tranquil.

COCO

Thank you so much Dr Suzen for coming to our home to send our beautiful Coco over rainbow bridge. Thank you for the wonderful send off for my little lad Reggie. I adopted him and his sister Ronnie in 2006 from Cats Protection. They gave me so many laughs and cuddles - I miss them terribly. Ronnie passed away a couple of years back but Reg kept on enjoying his life and even had a young girlfriend - a cat called Binx from a few doors down. We had to say a very very sad goodbye to our gorgeous Jack Russell Billy on 29/06/20. I can not thank DR Suzen for taking care of Billy and sending him on his way to doggie heaven, and for organising everything down to the collection of his ashes. I really could not have asked for a more caring and loving way. It was so nice for him to be in his home surroundings .

TESS

"Last Friday, we had to say goodbye to our gorgeous, loving girl, Tess who was 16. From the minute we met her at Raystede rescue centre aged (a very young) 10, she has proven to be so much more than just a companion. Her kind, loving nature, mixed with her great zest for life, made every second with her joyful. She has left a huge void in our lives, and the grief has been overwhelming. At first, you believe that you have 'rescued' a dog, and then somewhere along the way it becomes evident that it was always the other way round. Tess showed that a thousand times over. We will always be grateful to her. We take much comfort in knowing that she passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Nothing was rushed. Everything was explained. Thank you, Dr Jo. We will be eternally grateful to you and will never forget your kindness and compassion."

BOO was indeed a character, As a kitten he got hit by a car and then a few years later fell out of a window 3 flights up and tore a ligament in his leg thankfully landed on grass. Words can not say how sad our family was yesterday as we had to say goodbye to our beautiful girl Bambi - aged 22yrs. She lived a long & memorable life without major health problems. As our vets no longer do home visits they lead us to get in touch with Suzen as we wanted to say goodbye as a family at home. Bambi was a fighter but old age got to her very quick the last few days so Suzen kindly came to our home yesterday & helped us say goodbye. Suzen was professional, supportive and understanding & made the whole heart breaking day a little better with her kindness. Bambi had a strong heart & finally when she was peacefully asleep we said our last goodbye then laid her to rest with her Mum, Sister & Brother in our garden. Our handsome, comical and loving boy, Dusta, left us last week, after suffering a quick and shocking decline in his health at only ten and a half years old. He was one in a million and has left a huge Dusta shaped hole in our hearts and our lives. ACE

Ace was an 11 year old collie cross German Shepherd. Despite a bad start in life he was rescued by the RSPCA and later adopted by us at the age of 2. We had 9 wonderful years with Ace and he grew to become a huge part of our family. Ace would never leave the house without one of his many rings. On his return he just dropped it on the driveway! He loved going to the field everyday to see our horses, he would get so excited on the way down. We have enjoyed some great memories with him that will never be forgotten. He became a real family dog. We all spent one last night with Ace and he passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. A special thanks to Suzen and the team for helping us through what was a very difficult time. Ace will be missed by all of us and we will always love him.

SAMUEL

I can not praise enough the professionalism of Suzen in assistance in putting my dear cat Samuel out of his suffering. He was my pal.Always there to greet me when I got home and ready to follow me up the stairs to bed at night.Pals for eighteen years.Sam was Tonkinese and was very devoted. When I got married they was some jealousy from both sides but in the end they both managed to tolerate each other as well as love each other! It was when his back legs started to weaken that I realised that it seemed cruel to hang on.It was not about my future grieve but his suffering ,being now also both blind and deaf.Nonetheless he continued to eat, purr and interact until the last. What Suzen was able to offer was time ,reassurance and expert advice in the home so Samuel was not stressed. He died peacefully in my arms on the bed purring away with my wife by his side and holding on to him. It would not have been possible to provide such a peaceful ending for him in a traditional veterinary surgery setting.
Many Thanks

It was such a devastating decision to have to make. I think I was in denial for a while. I rang Dr Suzen and spoke with her. She helped me to decide on the right decision for Oscar and that was to say goodbye. She was so supportive through the whole process. Oscar was a loyal and true family member. I miss him so dearly and my heart is broken. We used to run for miles together over the South Downs. I know he is there now, running free. Love you always and forever. Mummy loves you my handsome boy. x x

DOM (PUPPA)

My darling Dom Dog also known as Puppa for most of his 17 years Capable of making even the most hardened hearts melt despite being a JRT and clearly not giving heed to this. The most beloved permanent toddler in mischief state. How could you refuse those eyes any cuddles - my companion through some tough times I miss you every single day you made me a nicer person.

BUSTER

It was with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to our precious Busterboy .He was such a lovely boy full of such Joy for life . We met in a very difficult time for you ,I just knew you would be our boy and you have held a special place in my whole family’s lives. We spent 8 wonderful years with us and you were taken too early with cancer that couldn’t be cured. We couldn’t take you to the vets practice to say our goodbyes and was so pleased that we found vets2 home to end his days so peacefully we will always miss you and love you forever. Thankyou Jo for making his passing so peaceful for him . We really appreciated the kindness that you showed us and Buster.

HOLLY

Holly was so lively and enjoyed many woodland walks with our other cocker Dylan. She followed me everywhere, always alert to any movement. She was almost 14 and her last few days were very difficult. Many thanks to Suzen for support and for bringing relief and peace to Holly and to all of us. We will miss her but know how fortunate we were to hear of Vet2Home a few days earlier. The lovely card and poem were much appreciated.

WILFRED

Wilfred Scillitoe aged 81 (in dog/human years) - A loyal and faithful family member he brought joy to our lives. We recall him as handsome, (he has stopped traffic) charming everyone he met. He also stole malteasers, (taught by his mum) and would have murdered the postman. GOD, HOW WE'LL MISS HIM.

SILVER

In the short time Dr Suzen was in our home she got to know Silver and took our fears away. Silver was my constant companion for nearly 19 years. Getting him when I was 5 years old, we grew up together. A gentle giant, Silver followed me to school when younger and followed me around the garden in old age. He loved to sit on laps and many evenings I spent giving him endless tickles. Thank you for making the goodbye a peaceful, loving moment. Silver could not have been more loved!

ALFIE

On News years eve we called Vets2Home to give an opinion that our wonderful terrier Alfie needed to quietly and humanely leave our world peacefully. They came out and agreed with our family that indeed the kindest thing we could give our best friend was to put him to sleep and go over the rainbow bridge . He had his leg amputated a few years ago but now had Cushing disease and had difficulty breathing . At 14 and half he had stoically carried on last year but it was time for the little fella to give up even though we of course wanted to keep him with us forever . Vets2Home made the whole traumatic process as beautiful as it could be . Alfie was asleep in his bed and the lovely gentleman dr Joaquin injected him and Alfie didn’t even wake up . Then left us alone with Alfie so we could say goodbye whilst he was in a deep sleep . Then he came back to give further injection . He was surrounded by our love as he passed away so peacefully with dignity . Thank you so much for your wonderful service.

JAVA

It was a beautiful spring evening in my garden when Suzen laid Java to rest in the most sensitive, and dignified way. The following is the eulogy I read when we buried him: Somewhere in an old film I remember a saying - "Chance is the fools name for fate." Perhaps it was chance, or perhaps fate that I met you. I never knew then that you would become such an important part of my life. On days when I didn't want to get out of bed, you were the reason I did. When I couldn't find anything to smile about, you made me smile. You made many other complete strangers smile too but, most of all, you were my friend, my companion - always a tail wag and always an unconditional love. You didn't care what I looked like, and never told me I was growing old and fat. You were my constant for twelve years and you will always be in my heart and my irreplaceable friend.

HUFF

RIP Huff 26.12.04 - 18.08.2020
Sometimes a chihuahua, sometimes a pitbull, Pomeranian or boxer, perhaps a polar bear or a seal-pup? No matter which look you take on, you’ve been my constant nearly every day for 16 years. Sociable (you love a pub and a sleepover), well-traveled across and up and down the US, flew across the Atlantic and sniffed around the UK too, on literally every mode of transport there is. A friend to all, children and other doggos alike, cats even when they may not like you. You were the master of escaping undetected; affectionately dubbed “Huffdini”. Mild-mannered, easily lovable and not replaceable, you are the best dog ever, a best friend, my Huffpuff supermut! May your ears always ‘hang ten’ in Heaven. Love you puppa,
love always, Angela. xoxo

MIA

With heavy hearts we had to let our beautiful brave 'MIA' go - much earlier than expected due to liver cancer. It has been one of the most devastating and heartbreaking times of our lives; but being able to be there with her to the very end, in the comfort of our own home was priceless. The end was peaceful, dignified and full of love and compassion. A huge thank you to Dr Suzen for her sensitivity and kindness. Mia was our absolute soulmate, a true and faithful companion to the end. She journeyed with us through life, creating so many wonderful cherished memories along the way. If ever a dog could be human, she was! Beautiful inside and out - the warmth of her eyes and the shine on her coat were unforgettable! She was a loyal, brave, happy, playful, eager to please, cheeky, comical, obedient, clever, polite, enthusiastic ball of pure joy! She will be sorely missed by all the family, but in particular by her Mum and Dad, and sister 'Belle' who is deeply pining for her. Forever in our hearts, we thank God for you and the times we spent together

OBI ONE KANOBI

Obi was the most wonderful Bernese. He was diagnosed, age 7 with lung cancer and deteriorated very quickly. The idea of taking him to the vet to be put down and leaving him at the door (due to Covid restrictions) was unbearable. They did offer to sedate him in the car to then be carried in until they saw the size of him! I called Suzen on a Sunday morning and she was with us by lunchtime. A beautiful sunny day, birds singing, lying on the rug with our beloved Obi. A quick sedative injection that he didn't notice and Suzen left us to be with our boy for 15 minutes whilst he fell asleep. Incredibly hard to lose him but it really was a first-class ticket to heaven that our boy deserved. Thank you so much Vets2Home

"I can't thank Dr Jo enough for his compassion, care and kindness yesterday when I had to say a final farewell to my beloved Bo. She had been my constant companion for over 13 years having come to me when she was 18 months old. We shared so many happy years together. She made me laugh every day and gave me a reason to carry on during tough times too. Now released from all pain she can again run free with her sister Sally. My darling girls forever in my heart. Dr Jo you are an amazing gifted person and gave Bo such a peaceful passing. THANK YOU

HAITI

"Thank you to Dr Suzen and Andrea for looking after Haiti. My biggest fear after experiencing pet loss through the vets, was that I would have to see Haiti panic and have anxiety before being put to sleep but seeing her relaxed in her own home, with her family around her, in my arms snoring has meant I can start to have closure and say goodbye knowing that she left us peacefully and loved. Which is everything she deserves. She was my best friend and soul dog. Thank you for helping us have the best goodbye we love you so much Haiti baby."

We have so many happy memories of our time together, and through difficult times you were our rock. You had a rough start to life but you showed us nothing but unconditional love, as we did to you. Our last act of love and kindness to you is to allow you to leave this world happy, pain free and with the dignity that you deserve. Words cannot describe how much we love you, or how much we miss you, but you will live on in our hearts and memories forever. We are heartbroken.

OSCAR

"Our much loved and handsome boy, Oscar. He'll be forever missed, but he gave us the most wonderful 4 years; full of love, laughter, and happiness. We adopted him at age 9 and he still managed to keep us on our toes especially when it came to running around the garden in the sun, and attempting to catch butterflies. He was truly a special boy, his passing has left a huge hole and the house is definitely a lot quieter without him. Oscar fought his aggressive cancer until the very end, even insisting on waking us up early for breakfast and attention that morning but with the help from Emma, who was just wonderful that day, let him pass peacefully. We'll never get over the heartbreak of losing our Oscy, but we he's no longer in pain and we imagine he's no doubt running around whilst in the sun, attempting to catch butterflies once again. We will always miss you and we'll always love you. xxxxxxxx."

POPPY

"Poppy age 15.5 came to me in not the best circumstances at age 1. She was loving, kind, funny, annoying, strong, sassy, independent, all the things that make up a mad crazy life. Her presence in mine and my partner Neal’s life was immense and the void she has left is equally so. We know we will meet her again somewhere in the cosmos, for now I will feel her energy in the rain, her warmth of character in the sun, her playfulness in the wind. Dr Emma who attended today is an Angel and beautiful person, she made us feel at ease and her warmth and kindness was beyond measure. We are eternally grateful to Dr Emma and we will never forget her. If you love someone, set them free.. We did that today in the kindest most thoughtful way. Thank you Dr Emma, with love, Julia and Neal and Poppy."

YVIE

"On the 26th of February we said goodbye to the most beautiful, gentle soul our beautiful Beagle Yvie. Yvie was my son (Luca’s) 6th birthday present and their bond was like no other. They were best friends and grew up together. Yvie didn’t settle until he came home every day. Yvie lived her best life as a dog walkers dog. She came everywhere with me. She was a typical Beagle, so full of naughtiness and always hungry. There will never be another dog like her. Yvie had the biggest character and an even bigger heart. Dr Suzen made her passing the most peaceful experience. She died in mine and Luca’s arms something Suzen made happen and I’m so glad we were all together at the end. I will be eternally grateful to the team at vets to home."

MAISIE

"My precious Maisie was born in March 2009 and I chose her when she was a 5-week old puppy; it was love at first sight. I’d taken early retirement and Maisie came to live with me when she was almost 8 weeks old. Although she had some serious health issues over the years, including cancer, Maisie took it all in her stride. We were able to enjoy long walks on the South Downs, walks on the beach and sea swimming or just being together at home. We were together for thirteen and a half years, during which time she was the most faithful, loving, affectionate and constant companion who enriched my life. She was a very gentle dog and loved and was loved by everyone she met. Sadly, she slowed down considerably in her last year and had problems with her spine and back legs, increasingly struggling to get up and the time finally came when I knew that I had to ‘let her go’. I wanted a peaceful home euthanasia for Maisie but our vet practice couldn’t guarantee a home appointment and recommended Vets2Home. I’m so glad they did as, from my initial ‘phone call, everything was handled in a sympathetic yet professional manner. Dr Suzen attended my home and I shall never forget her kindness and understanding and reassurance that I was doing the right thing at the right time. I shall forever be grateful to Dr. Suzen and her team at Vets2Home for their compassion at such a difficult time. It broke my heart to say my final “goodbye” to Maisie but Dr Suzen ensured that it was a peaceful, respectful and dignified experience. Maisie’s ashes were returned to me a couple of weeks later in a beautiful casket and I always say “goodnight” to her. I couldn’t bring myself to post a memorial to Maisie at the time but today is the first anniversary of Maisie’s passing and she deserves a memorial. I’m still heartbroken and miss her as much as ever but she lives on in my heart and I will love and remember her forever. RIP my precious Maisie 17.03 09 to 13.08.2022"

CLEO

"Our beautiful fur baby Cleo was born the day after our wedding on 23rd November 2006. That first Christmas she hid under the Christmas tree and was too scared to come out. She only ever loved us swiping and hissing at anyone else who dared to try to adore her. Her sister Amber was her opposite in every way warm, cuddly and friendly to all and we are lucky to still have her with us. Cleo was a beautiful, complicated soul. We hoped she would be with us for a while longer but a year ago she was diagnosed with a pancreatic tumour and given a few short months without treatment. She loathed the vet so we chose not to put her through it all. We dug in and gave her even more reasons than ever to stay with us, loving her madly and completely. She carried on for almost a whole year but growing increasingly frail we took the agonising decision to let her go finally passing away in our arms on her favourite sofa and blanket thanks to the amazing Dr Jo on 3/2/22 aged 16 years and 2 months. My goodness we miss our darling fur baby and if Amber could talk we think she misses her too. Thank you Cleo for all the joy you brought to our lives. How quickly 16 years went by we wish you could have been with us longer. We will never forget you darling and we have so many beautiful photos and memories. See you in Heaven baby bear our special Beadle."

An image showing Horace, a cat who was peacefully sent over the rainbow by vets at home

HORACE

"We said goodbye to Horace on 11 December, after 19 years of constant companionship. After being treated for an overactive thyroid, and recovering from a spinal stroke and the loss of an eye, all in the last few years, we thought Horace might be indestructible. But worsening arthritis, kidney failure and cognitive decline over the last few months (none of which affected her ravenous appetite) meant we knew her time was near. That it was kinder to let Horace go before she deteriorated further didn’t make things easier, but the support and understanding of the Vets2Home team was a comfort. Emma the vet, in particular, was everything we could have wanted in such a sad situation – professional, compassionate and completely unhurried. Emma’s tender expertise meant Horace seemed mercifully unaware of what was happening and slipped away so peacefully, it was as though she’d just drifted off to sleep with us watching over her. We miss you, Horace, our little ginger monster."

RALPH

"After making the decision that no owner wants to make, and knowing that the vets was just not an option for us, we decided to contact vets 2 home. Ralph was the most gentle and loving soul and we hated the idea of him suffering or being unhappy. We could not have asked for any better way for our boy to go, in his mums arms, at home. This process enabled us to be sure Ralph was calm and comfortable and had no idea what was going on. Dr Jo was very caring and compassionate and was happy to talk us through each step as we'd not been through this before. We can't recommend this service enough. Rest easy our handsome boy!"

You came to me in my time in great need, it was then I realised God had sent me a little Earth Angel in my time of need. I loved you with all my heart, and will always love you, you are still in my heart and at my side. I miss you and your funny antics which made me laugh, you loved everyone you met giving them your little Angel kisses of God's blessings. bu I feel comforted when I look at your photos, bringing memories of our beautiful time together. You are now with God in Heaven you can run and play pain free. One day we we re-unite in Heaven so we can run together. Always in my heart never forgotten love you always. Miss you so much! POLLY

"Polly was our everything, she was only a month away from turning 15 and was the prettiest fluffiest little ball of joy. She made us laugh daily, she was affectionate, sassy and so so loving. My partner and I treated her like she was our baby, our world. There really was no preparing for for saying goodbye when we got the diagnosis that a mast cell tumour under her eye was inoperable. We were/are understandably devasted to ever even contemplate saying goodbye to her. I discovered vets2home online and immediately knew I had found the right people when a wonderfully caring women talked me through the hardest decision of my life. Polly never liked the vets and she deserved to go in peace at home being adored by us. I couldn't bare the idea of her suffering a slow departure. Dr Jo was the kindest, sweetest calming presence and he couldn't have been a better person to help us through a truly inconsolable time. It's going to take us a long time to grieve the loss of our beautiful baby girl but the service this company and Dr Jo provided was invaluable. Rest in peace tiny one, life will never be the same without you. Monica died in 2016 and Lilah went off her food for about 3 weeks as she missed her so much. Lilah was 17 when I was told she had high blood pressure and chronic kidney failure and she slowly lost weight and was looking very dejected and not her usual self. With the very kind and quiet intervention of Dr Jo she died peacefully in my arms in May 2022. I am so pleased I chose Vets2home, it was a very fitting goodbye to a much wanted and loved member of our family. She was cremated at Chestnut Lodge the following day and her ashes combined with my wife's and the other cats added to the soil of a Crab Apple tree in the garden. Life in another form continues, run free all of you over Rainbow Bridge, safely in Gods care, you are sorely missed. xxx"

LILAH

"Delilah as she was named on her pedigree certificate was "rescued" by my late wife Monica after I noticed in our local vets that she was looking for a home. We already had two Persians and my wife was adamant this one was to be a third, it took her 3 weeks to settle in and the pair of them became the closest of buddies, so much so that when my wife was diagnosed with a rare terminal cancer in 2014, Lilah was to be found cuddled up to her on the hospital bed here at home, they both found great comfort in each others company and it was a lovely sight to see them together. Monica died in 2016 and Lilah went off her food for about 3 weeks as she missed her so much. "This is our wonderful beautiful boy Alfie. He was nearly 18 years old and gave all of so much love and so many wonderful memories. He has indeed left a big hole in our hearts. As a family we believe in Angels. They are amongst us and are there when you need them. On that evening, an Angle walked through our door, it was Dr Suzen and everything immediately went calm. Dr Suzen showed not only Alfie kindness and compassion, but us as a family. Dr Suzen made us see that we were giving our beautiful boy a gift. All the family were with him and everyone said goodbye. Alfie looked so happy and peaceful. Alfie is in a better place and with our other dogs, his pals. The way Alfie went was beautiful and we all thank Dr Suzen from the bottom of our hearts."

"We have had to face the loss of both our dogs in the last 2 years. Both times we have found Vets2home team a great support. Dylan & Holly both lived to 13 years and we have lovely memories of woodland walks where I started to record wildlife for SWT especially the butterflies seen. Dr Suzen gave us several extra months with Dylan by controlling the pain of arthritis which helped us to come to terms with our loss. Dr Jo came immediately when Dylan stopped eating, he was so kind and gave us a peaceful farewell to our beloved Dylan. Many thanks to you all"

BESS

Thank you for making a very hard goodbye to our beloved Bess peaceful in her own home. There was no way we could have taken her to the clinical surroundings of our local vets. We remain devastated, but we knew it was the right decision. She was in pain from the sarcoma that had rapidly and aggressively invaded her beautiful Labrador body. She was a fabulous friend, we walked miles and I will miss those walks. She was friends to all, without a bad bone in her body. Greeted all and loved everyone. Thank you for the lovely card and poem you popped through the door, so thoughtful. Especially as we had just returned from holiday when we would have gone to pick Bess up from the kennels where the staff all loved her. Thank you once again.

When he was teething he became known as chewy Louis and when he grew up into a proper boxer gooey Louis. He loved attention and visitors and could never keep still, even when you stroked him he would always be shuffling around. He embraced life and taught me so much. He was very messy but with all of his bad habits I would never hear a bad word spoken against him. I had 12 wonderful years with him. My only true friend, I love and miss you so much XXX

GOBLIN

When the time came for us to say goodbye to our beautiful cat Goblin, we really didn't want her to go through the stress of being packed into her carrier and going to the vet. Being at home, she was able to go into the garden, nibble her last piece of grass before falling asleep on the sofa on her blanket and with us stroking her. I can't imagine going through that in a vet's surgery. Your vet was lovely and didn't rush us at any stage. Thanks for making the worst day a little easier.

INCA

Eight years ago she came to us with not much chance in life. So beaten, hungry scared and frail. Our job, to end her strife. And so began the brand new path To give our girl a home To give her kindness, keep her safe To never be alone. As years progress, bad memories fade Her trust and strength grew strong A home now giving loving friends Through days both short and long. The time together that we share It bonds us oh so close Till space between us disappears And life is good and fun And closeness makes us comfortable As now we are as one. But as is life's uncertain path Your illness came too fast And forced a kindness without bounds To let you go and pass. With love and pain and hurt and guilt We set the time go Tho painful and with grief we lay Beside you, Loves what showed. We're sad your gone We miss you so But know deep in our heart That Kindness brought us to this place Our love has let us part. Decisions such are hard to make, don't want to let you go. But love to have you never scared, meant strength we had to show. So here we are our girl is gone but lives strong in our hearts. Our lovely loyal Inca Girl, forever in our hearts.

A huge thank you to Suzen who made an unbearable decision something that we felt comfortable with as it is never easy to let go. Her handling of our beautiful girl could not have been more loving. Mellie only came to us just over a year ago but she filled our lives with fun and laughter and for the amount of love we have for her, she could have been with us for all of her 11 years. We'll meet again at the bridge sweet-pea - just love and light now xxx

AUDREY

We said goodbye to our little Audrey this morning. It was heartbreaking but, unexpectedly, peaceful and there was so much love in the room. Audrey came to us from a rescue centre aged 8 and gave us almost 5 years of love and joy. Audrey's kisses, cuddles and snores brought us so much happiness and we are going to miss her so much. We will also miss her Tuesday war with the binman, the chewed up mail (she once ate a plane ticket to S.A.), her bin raiding and lord knows who will tell the cats off now. Night, night little pickle. You were loved, so loved.

Thank you so much Suzen for all the help and support with Vegas over the last 9 months. Although it broke our heart to say goodbye to her we were so glad it was in her own home surrounded by us all and our other 2 dogs. We miss her so much. R I P Vegas - You are now in doggy heaven. Vegas, letting you go was the hardest thing we have had to do .Seeing you in pain for the last 24 hours was terrible and we could see in your eyes that your time had come .Please forgive us for helping you make the decision .You have always been there to cheer us up when having a bad day and showed us love unconditionally. Vegas you are a very special dog, giving us the most fantastic memories to cherish for the rest of our lives and it is you that has looked after us all. Today has been full of tears and has been horrible without you. You will always live on in our hearts and we will never forget you. To me you are my best friend. STITCH

Thank you for this opportunity to include ‘’Stitch Stebbings’’ in your memorial wall.  Born in May 2002, we knew his mother & met his father, so we knew him even before he was born. He had a lip injury at about 6 weeks old & when we got him, he still had a stitch hanging from his mouth – hence his name. He was a lovely boy, who liked to snuggle behind me in bed. He liked to lick my feet. He chased rabbits, rats & mice, sometimes he caught them...something I discouraged when I became vegan 4 years ago. Always ready to greet you & to share your food, he started to struggle at the end of 2017 & had not been himself for months until Tuesday 7/8/18 when he was showing signs of serious intestinal problems. I knew he was asking for help when he settled beside me.

MILLIE

Millie was not a typical cat and in many ways quite dysfunctional - clumsy (lost at least 9 lives), ATE the stair carpet and some of her toys. She was 100% people orientated and had lengthy loud conversations with us. She was so purry and affectionate towards us and anyone coming to visit. Her big personality carried her terminal illness for over a year. She is sorely missed, stepping over her when she is no longer there, and no longer welcoming us when we come up to the front door. Once more thank you to Vets2Home and Suzen for her support at such a sad time. Rob & Erica, Brighton

BUDDY

Our beloved Buddy bounced into our lives 8 years ago and gave us so much joy and laughter. We never imagined we would have to say goodbye to him so soon. He has left a massive hole in our lives but the memories shine through and help us through our grief. Loved by all who met him and recently described as a "legend" by our local vet. Words cannot express our gratitude to Suzen for helping us with so much compassion at the end of his short life. Sleep well Bud, til we meet again xxx

PEANUT

Peanut was our beautiful princess Shar Pei x Beagle. At age 9 Peanut was diagnosed with an aggressive Mast Cell Tumour and we came to learn that we would lose her much younger than we ever expected. Peanut was a wonderful companion to us and bossy but loving sister to her younger fur brother and sister. She loved with her whole heart and completely filled our hearts with love for her. We have a huge peanut shaped hole in our life but Suzen helped us let her go in such a beautiful and caring way. I don’t have the words to express our gratitude. Run free Peanut, forever loved.

BEN

A huge thank you to Vets2Home for making a heartbreaking situation a lot nicer for Ben and For us. He was in a bad way and after phoning a lot of fully booked and unhelpful vets, I’m so glad you were available to visit our home. Ben went into a deep sleep in his own garden with his favourite blankets and toys. Very peacefully and felt like our final gift to him to help him pass over. We will never ever forget you Ben. You were so happy, playful, cheeky, clever, demanding and even human like! My first ever dog, and to think I was a bit scared of you at first. Big cuddly brown bear. Sleep tight baby boy! Love you forever Xxxxxxxxx

SAMMY

We can’t thank Suzen enough for coming out to us and showing such compassion and making what was an extremely difficult time calm and peaceful for our beloved and beautiful Sammy. Sammy was 14 and very much a character, we absolutely adored him and miss him terribly. Thank you so much Suzen for recommending Chestnut Lodge what a wonderful place, this really helped us to deal with the whole process of parting with Sammy and as a family we are truly grateful to you. It helps us to know that Sammy’s end of life was in the hands of the very best. What an amazing Woman you are Suzen, we will never forget you or your kindness.
Much love Simon, Marina & family. Xxx

AMBIKA

We finally had to say good bye to Ambika who finally lost her battle to cancer. It was the hardest thing that we have ever had to do. She was with us for over 17 years and had given us 15 beautiful babies, 2 who we still have, Lily and Shadow. Dr Suzan was brilliant, she knew Ambika, had met her 12 years ago, her compassion and understanding what we were going through really helped to say goodbye. We were so happy in the fact that we could say goodbye to Ambika in my arms at home, we are heartbroken in losing her, we will always love and miss her. To anyone going through this heartbreaking time then having Vets2Home come out and help you through this time is the best you can give them, they are very special people.

TIGGER

Tigger, we found you staying on our 3 seater garden swing seat and after a month or two we let you into our home and our hearts you were more than a cat to us, you were very loyal and always stayed close to home. I will always remember regularly brushing you with a slicker brush with one hand on your shoulder, and you would spend the whole time licking my hand till it was red. I would often carry you in my arms as I walked around the house slowly and you would doze off to sleep in my very tired arms. When you came in from the rain all dripping, cold, and wet I would dry you with a towel and make you warm again. You would follow me around the house when I wandered around, and when I would stand at the back door looking out into the back garden, you would be between my feet looking out the cat flap in the door. You was also the friendliest cat I have ever known and never objected to being handled and prodded when needed. I and everyone who met you will miss you forever. Although Tigger was his official name he somehow got the Nickname Mr Grommit and I will always remember him as being my best friend in life and he has left a hole in our lives that can never be filled. Thanks to Dr Suzen he was able to slip peacefully into his final sleep at home surrounded by his family and favourite shirt to lie on, Dr Suzen is a Hero to us and always will be and we will be forever grateful she was able to come out to see us on boxing day!! 😻 🤩 😭

CHRISTIAN

My special boy Christian was gently put to sleep Monday November 30th. I had been battling to save him but it was too much for him. Now at peace. I really miss him and it feels so empty. But I'm glad he is not suffering anymore. I bred him and held him in my hand when he was a minute old..He was always waiting for me. I loved how he would lay on me paws on my shoulders resting his head against mine. I will miss you so much my special boy.
I love you Christian.

LULU

Lulu shared our lives for over 18 years. She was a rescue kitten from Brighton who, even in her later years, loved climbing and leaping from high places. She broke a back leg when she was 2 but it never stopped her from being adventurous. She had such a sweet and sunny nature and we desperately miss her. Saying such a gentle and peaceful goodbye at home was a comfort so thank you Dr Jo. Thank you.

MABEL

A huge thank you to the team at Vets 2 Home for taking Mabel over the rainbow bridge with great care, kindness and dignity. Mabel would have made the choice I am sure of going on her final journey in the comfort of her own surroundings. It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one but she was ready to be on her way. Hopefully she has made new friends already and without pain she can now run free. She is missed sorely each and every day and will remain ever etched on our memories. She was such a good friend, loyal, funny and kind. Everybody loved her, she bought us so much happiness and laughter. Always there for all who were fortunate enough to meet her. Run free now little lady - we love you forever xxxx

An image of Buddy, a dog wearing a jumper

BUDDY

We sadly had to let Buddy go much earlier then we expected due to cancer. However, in his short time with us, he made the biggest impact and left us with enough memories to last a lifetime. He cheered us all up when we needed it the most, without Buddy, the world would have been a lot less bright. He learned the commands 'kisses' and 'cuddle' and willingly gave both! He won the heart of our dad, who previously didn't like dogs at all! But, most importantly, he was just Buddy. The most unique and special boy we could have wished for. We miss him so so much, but that demonstrates how amazing he was to us all xxx
