Cost of Pet Euthanasia and Cremation in the UK

A pet parent experiences a lot of different emotions when deciding to put their pet to sleep. Their beloved pets are like family members to them and are extremely hard to let go of even when deep in their hearts they know the most loving choice is to say goodbye. The decision to have a two-step, gentle euthanasia and also what to do afterward, whether to keep your special companion at home for burial, or have a 100% individual or a group cremation, may seem like the hardest call that you have ever had to make in your life. This may be the bravest and kindest option left for you to help your pet and in this way to end his or her suffering in the best possible way.

Vets2Home offers in-home gentle, 2-step pet euthanasia as opposed to the alternative which is to take your pet to your regular vet for euthanasia. During these difficult times, in many cases sadly, at your regular vet practice, they can only offer euthanasia in the car park or boot of your car. Another devastating option that we hear of is only one family member may be able to be present inside the practice for the procedure which, whilst understandable, is heart-wrenching to think about if you have a whole (human) family to think of at this time too.

If your pet has a terminal or debilitating illness and is actually suffering or not coping with life as before, we may recommend gentle, 2-step, in-home euthanasia as the best option for them. Please contact us to book an appointment as much in advance as you are able to if you feel your ailing pet is in pain, suffering, and needs our help.

Options for Aftercare Services:

The amazingly dedicated and respectful pet cremation service and options provided by Chestnut Lodge Pet Crematorium based in East Grinstead guarantees through their independent accreditation and ongoing inspections, that your beloved pet will be handled with the utmost care and respect from beginning to end.

The team at Chestnut Lodge is small, personal, and absolutely committed to giving you the best experience from the collection of your beloved pet from Vets2Home, to the delivery of your pet’s ashes back to Vets2Home in the case of 100% individual pet cremation. Vets2Home’s dedicated and caring delivery driver for these safe returns is usually Amanda, our all-round Practice Manager, and she will take your pet’s ashes personally to your registered vet practice for your collection. This process takes approximately 10-14 days.

If you alternatively chose group cremation for your furry friend instead, he or she will be cremated very respectfully with other pets and scattered within the grounds of the peaceful pet cemetery of Chestnut Lodge. Safe in the arms of Furnace Woods with its beautiful bird song that can be heard carried by the gentle breeze through the trees, watching over the many sentient souls resting there.

Whether you’re interested in internment services, private cremation, scattering your pet’s ashes on your property, or burial at home, many options are available and can be tailored by Vets2Home in conjunction with Chestnut Lodge to fit within your unique circumstances and preferences. There is a wide range of urns, caskets, paw prints, jewellery, and special mementos that you can order in addition to the standard option as a treasured memory of your beloved pet.

As a very unique gesture, Vets2Home also offers the option to hand-deliver your companion’s ashes back to your home if you feel this might be important for you.

You and family members are able to attend a viewing prior to the cremation of your pet too if you wish to see any part of the process and pay your last respects. You can count on Chestnut Lodge to continue honouring the trust we place in them to look after our valued families’ furry family members. This arrangement can be made directly with Chestnut Lodge.

Cost of Pet Euthanasia and Pet Cremation

We understand that the cost of gentle euthanasia at home for a pet can be a major consideration as this is still in this day and age considered a premium option. A quality of life (QOL) home consultation and pre-euthanasia home consultation are priced from £277, whilst a 2-step, gentle home euthanasia starts from £297 as our prices depend on the urgency, the size of your pet and what area you are in. Please take the time to view the various fees and prices we charge for pet euthanasia services and QOL consultations on our website.
